The Buddhist Instruction
Ministry
is dedicated to promoting and teaching fundamental Buddhism based on
interpretations of the Pali Canon which is recognized by Buddhist scholars as the oldest
surviving written record of what the Buddha actually said and taught.
Our group's qualifications to teach are our very extensive 20 years of study of Buddhism, including both the 12,800 plus pages of Pali Text Society English translations of the Buddha's discourses, recognized by Buddhist scholars as the oldest surviving written record of what the Buddha actually said and taught, plus over a thousand additional books and essays on Buddhism, some almost as old as the Pali Canon. All told, an estimated 60,000,000 words.
We started the Buddhist Instruction Retreat and its Buddhist Instruction Ministry in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, in 1991. For eight years, we were the only Buddhist organization listed under "Churches" in the main telephone yellow page directory for Atlanta. All our teaching is now done at this time through this website ministry where we provide our summary of Fundamental Buddhism Explained, extracting most of its content from the Pali Canon translations, plus where we provide more definition to that summary via our Buddhist Instruction FAQs page. We no longer offer retreats. Our Atlanta local ministry was terminated in Nov 2001 due to little local interest and support -- most people now use the Internet to obtain information on Buddhism.

You can promote this website by providing a link to it from your website plus you can recommend it to others in whatever manner you can wherever you can.
If you have fluent writing skills in English plus another language, you could volunteer your free time to write a translation of the Text Summary Page. See the page of other language translations of the Fundamental Buddhism Explained Text Summary for more details. To date, only seven people have generously volunteered their free time, skills and money to write and create a language translation of the text summary (for which we again thank them). Language translation services want around $750 to $1000 to do just one language translation of the text summary. If you would like to volunteer to do a translation, again see that page for instructions and mail us a letter.
You can provide a financial donation to go towards paying for these translations or you can pay someone to do them and then send us the MS word or html file.
If you have any questions on how we are building our Buddhist Instruction Ministry efforts, or further ideas on how we might effectively make the world more aware of what Buddhism is actually all about as outlined in our summary discourse, please send us your thoughts via a letter -- our online email and form were discontinued due to nothing but excessive spam.
Please note:
All financial contributions to our Buddhist Instruction Ministry go into a "church" bank account. A summary of where financial contributions are actually spent each calendar year will be posted in a annual report on this website in this page, at the bottom, on or before April 15 of each following year.
And if you do choose to make a financial contribution, and you have been making contributions to other Buddhist and/or other religious organizations, we ask that you continue to make contributions to these other organizations and to continue to do so to the same extent that you have been making contributions to them.
In response to this question sent: "I am not a skeptic about your organization; but, however, you know that there are lots of scams on the Internet. How can people be sure about your organization's existence and really promoting Buddhism?"
Our ministry exists and has since 1991. This website ministry exists and has since August 1997. If your question is really, "How do I know for certain my contributions will be well spent and not hoarded nor spent on either needless luxuries, like Rolls Royce cars, or for frivolous things, like gold faucets in the house?" then that is a good question. The best answer we can give at this point is once there are sufficient funds, a USA official non-profit organization legal status will be obtained and then perhaps initial large contributors might form a monitoring board. And most things, of course, could conceivably be paid direct by contributors, such as the language translations, thus guaranteeing one is getting what one expects for their contribution.

In July 2006, we dropped our domain www.fundamentalbuddhism.com and switched to www.fundamental-buddhism.com
Someone bought our old domain and posted an older version of our webpages, probably thinking we had died and our site was gone.
In fact, this is anticipated within the next couple of years as we grow into our advanced declining years and our main website will indeed be discontinued at some point.
In the meantime, our new domain is buried in the millions of webpages now up on Buddhism. It no longer rises up into the top 20 pages in any search engines as did the last, using just the keyword, buddhism. Since visitors are now reduced dramatically, and since no one is supporting our ministry effort, this will be the last posting of such results on this subpage. Our efforts now as we advance into our declining old age, as directed by the Buddha's discourses, are to try to win the Deathless as best we can here and now to bring the wayfaring among fabricated existences and worlds to a conclusion. May you, the reader, likewise, realize the Deathless, Nirvana won, as fast as possible.
